我的 Nalgene 何去何從

2年前在購買我第一台折疊車的時候，我在永和的城市綠洲購買的 Nalgene 水壺，上個禮拜給我從加拿大回來的表妹看到，很驚訝的問『你還在用 Nalgene 的水壺喔？你知不知道加拿大的賣場已經收起來不賣 Nalgene 了。』

我資訊真落後。

表妹說好像是因為有些產品的物料被加拿大政府驗出含有 BPA (Bisphenol A)，上網查一下的結果其實跟 Nalgene 的產品並沒有直接的關係，內容大概是：

加拿大衛生署 (Health Canada) 在2008年4月18日正式發佈一個新聞稿，標題是：『Government of Canada Takes Action on Another Chemical of Concern: Bisphenol A』(不專業翻譯：加拿大政府針對又一化學物品 Bisphenol A 使用的疑慮採取行動)

新聞稿大概指出，加拿大政府是全球第一個針對 Bisphenol A 這個化學原料完成評估的國家，針對 Bisphenol A 對加拿大國人以及環境的影響，加拿大政府將會採取一些行動。

接收公眾意見的期間從4月19日開始，維持60日，聽取加拿大國民的相關意見。在新聞稿內提及，評估研究的主要焦點是在使用 Polycarbonate 製造、含有 Bispheno A 的嬰兒奶瓶對初生到18個月大嬰兒的影響。不過，對所有年齡人士的健康風險在研究時有考慮進去 (were considered in the screening)。

研究顯示，在 Polycarbonate 的奶瓶內因高溫而釋放的 Bisphenol A 對嬰兒的負面影響低於會造成其健康風險的標準，但是，離開安全標準值的距離不夠大。

(原文：It was determined that the main source of exposure for newborns and infants is through the use of polycarbonate baby bottles when they are exposed to high temperatures and the migration of bisphenol A from cans into infant formula. The scientists concluded in this assessment that bisphenol A exposure to newborns and infants is below levels that may pose a risk, however, the gap between exposure and effect is not large enough.)

BPA 對環境的影響尚未包含在評估範圍內。

在加拿大政府發佈相關新聞的同一天，Nalgene 也立即宣布，『Nalgene to Phase Out Production of Consumer Bottles Containing BPA』在未來幾個月陸續淘汰含有 BPA 的水壺的生產。

根據我的查證，加拿大的賣場並非因為政府下令而下架，而只是停止販賣相關的產品。

我的 Nalgene 何去何從

從科學的角度去看、個人的觀感是，使用 Nalgene 帶有 BPA 的產品應該仍然安全。只要用在儲存冷水，並保持水的新鮮、不留過夜。對成年人的影響應該不大。

不過聽到新聞，仍然是毛毛的。不過話說回來，我們總得找個水壺，你又如何確保你用的水壺比Nalgene 好？

真是難以抉擇
